An Sgàilean Ùr is funded by Bòrd na Gàidhlig, MG ALBA and Highland Council.

Over the 4 years of production, An Sgàilean Ùr launched their films at the Celtic Media Festival in Galway 2008, Caernafon 2009, Newry 2010 and Stornoway 2011.

 An Sgàilean Ùr in Caernarfon

Youngsters from Skye, Lochalsh and Inverness recently attended the Celtic Media Festival in Caernarfon, North Wales and impressed a packed seminar with a presentation of their own short films. The pupils from Bun-sgoil Shlèite, Portree High School, Plockton High School and Bun-sgoil Ghàidhlig Inbhir Nis have been participating in An Sgàilean Ùr, a film-making inititive established in Skye by Producers Chris Young of Young Films and Mòrag Stewart of Sealladh. Following its successful showcasing at last year’s Celtic Festival in Galway and the funding of a 3-year project, An Sgàilean Ùr returned to the media stage this year to present four films made by primary and secondary pupils. Pupils were accompanied by Morag Stewart, Chris Young, Ishi MacLean & Vicky MacLean of Sealladh, Kirsty MacVicar, teacher at Bun-sgoil Gàidhlig Inbhir Nis and Charlie Smith, teacher at Plockton High School. The films will be screened in Skye & Inverness next month.
